About K P McCarthy PGA Professional Golfer & Teacher
Golf was a sport that I fell upon. I played baseball throughout my youth and dreamed of playing in the major leagues one day. But that all came to an end my senior year of high school when I began to work in my hometown of Suffern, New York at the Spook Rock Golf Course. As my golf game improved, I transitioned my golf and professional skills at the Tuxedo Club in Tuxedo Park, New York. where I met David Carazo, the club head professional who soon became my mentor in the golf business. I credit him with leading me to the decision to pursue a career in the golf industry. He is responsible for taking a shy kid, helping him through jobs, golf lessons and much more. Because of that I remain a friend with him and his son to this date. With David's help I decided to get in to the golf business.
Golf has brought many joys in life, including playing golf with Lawrence Taylor of the New York Giants and caddying for Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman. I have been a PGA member since December 2001, an accomplishment I am proud of considering that I did not take up golf until the age of 21. In 2005 I was awarded the prestigious the President's Council Award from the PGA of America for improving the golf game.
I must also give credit to those individuals who have helped me along the way. They have helped my golf game and ultimately led me to become a better golf instructor. They include, Brad Redding, Mike Bender, Todd Sones, Mike Bennet and Andy Plummer, Dave Pelz short game school, Mike Adams and David T. Carazo.
