When teaching the short game alot of my students or general golfers always ask me how to play CHIP SHOTS. I ask them how they play that shot, the answer I get is trying to get the golf ball in the air. Well the answer is incorrect, in Chipping the golf ball this shot is played up by the PUTTING surface and is a lower shot or close to that putting surface. Try using the following clubs, SW, 9 iron and 7iron and this is how close or how far you are from the golf hole on the green. In my past blogs I talked about PUTTING so I will ask you to get set-up like you are going to hit a PUTT. Know place 60% of your weight on your front leg, take the club you are going to use an feel like the grip is going toward your front pocket. You will see the that SHAFT and your hands are going to toward the hole. After conquering that just narrow your stance a bit and play the ball forward. Lastley swing the golf club like you are going to hit a PUTT. If done correctly you will have a little height and roll, if you are having trouble try to get a friend to hold a club out in front of you at Knee height and try to hit the ball underneath the shaft.

In the previous 2 segments of PUTTING we talked about how we hold the Putter, ball postion, where our eyes should be. The final piece in PUTTING is the stroke basically there are 2 types stright back and straight thru and putting on arc. The 2 best PUTTERS Tiger Woods and Ben Grenshaw are ones that putt on arc and this is one that I would prescribe. If you can’t find a Momentus Putting Arc, try the following putting with your Right or left hand only, putting thru the gate (this is used by placing TEES in the ground). Lastly, try using a Sand Wedge you simply want to try to belly the golf ball. As you do this you should notice that wedge goes stightly on the inside then down the line after you make contact with the ball. Hope that all this information is help to you and helps you lower your golf score.

In part 1of PUTTING we talked about posture and what effect it has on our PUTTING stroke. Another key part is the the grip. The way you would like to hold or handle a PUTTER is different from that of a FULL SWING GRIP. The FULL SWING grip is more of a FINGER~PALM grip where as in PUTTING would like to hold in the LIFE LINE of either hand. If you open either hand you will see a line that runs from slighty above of our INDEX FINGER to the middle of our hand. You want the SIDE OF or EDGE of the PUTTER GRIP to goto those LIFE LINES and know place the THUMBS down the middle of the grip. Lastly you want you TOP INDEX FINGER to go over the top of the bottom fingers, This style grip you stop you from being wristy when putting which alot people have a problem with. Another key factor to PUTTING is to make sure that your EYES are over the BALL or slighty on the inside. A simple way to make sure EYES are over the ball, is to take another ball put on the tip of you nose let it drop and it should drop land or graze the ball on the ground.

Dear readers and viewers I had a great experience last Wednesday night going for a job interview at New York Golf Center on 35th street behind MACYS on HERALD SQUARE. UPON walking into the store on the first floor I noticed all the excellent clothing lines they had in the store. Walking up the stairs to the 2nd floor I was in AWE of all the golf equipment they had. Beside that they had 3 hitting bays to try out and be fitted properly for your golf equipment. They hold a Taylor Made Matt fitting center and in that Fitting they have a very cool 3D motion dector for Golf Lessons. So if you Work or Live in NYC and are looking for golf clothing, getting the right equipment for you, or for a golf lesson the NY Golf center could be your place.
