On March 2 at the Innis Arden GC in Greenwich, CT I attended a seminar that involved Taylor Golf. Not only did we hear about what right woods and irons we should play but what GOLF BALL. Must say I learn something new, a GOLF BALL should not be choosen just the way you hit off the Driver, but the clubs you hit from 150yds on in. Believe or not the cover on the outside between the 5 piece golf balls and 2 piece are no different. The true way to find your RIGHT GOLF BALL is to hit with your wedges and see how they react around the greens. From there you pick out the GOLF BALL you like and then hit it with the right lofted DRIVER. The person who recommended this just help produce the NEW PENTRA 5 GOLF Ball and help introduce the PRO V1 Ball. If you can not tell the difference go with the CHEAPER GOLF BALL. For example I switched from the SRIXON Z to the Z STAR it reduced my spin and I gain 12 yards off the tee.

This blog will be off the beaten path from golf, like many Americans I was proud of our Olympic athletes to win any medal during the games. They have trained hard to represent us as a country but had a little problem when a athlete or team of athletes went to get a GOLD Medal to see the American Flag raised but no one singing our National Athem. Compared to Canadian athletes or team they where no more than honored to sing their song. When going to a Giant game or Yankee game I take my hat off and are proud to sing our Athem. When I went over to the Ryder Cup in Ireland or watch it on TV I see the golfers singing our Athem. We should just be proud of our country and how great it is to live in the USA.

Year after year the Golf Channel so called experts say that this young golfer or that young guy is the “NEXT GREAT PLAYER” or Next UP AND COMING GOLFER”. When I watch the golf channel I’ve noticed the likes of a Rory McILroy from Northern Ireland, Charles Swartzel from RSA, Ross Fisherand Martin Klimmer. These young guys are at least in contention or winning. In the states right now we take about Ricky Fowler possibly winning soon. Or Jamie Lovemark who just tied for 4th in the New Zealand Open. To me it looks like the European Tour has a leg up from the US Players. Is one tour better that the other who knows, it seems that younger players in Europe are not as afraid to win or just seem more comfortable at what their doing. Again slight edge to Europe and there young players.

Last week was the PGA SHOW in Orlando, Florida where PGA PROS and golf vendors get together. What kicks off the show is DEMO DAY at Orange County National. Here golfers have a chance to hit the newest in golf equipment. The only one that was not at demo day or the show was TAYLOR MADE GOLF. With that said I had a chance to hit everything from Cleveland to Wilson. All the companies have made something for everyone in golf based on your playing abilty. The biggest thing I took away from both days of the show was that CLUB AND BALL Fits where the best way to go when selecting the right things for you as a golfer. If you are thinking about getting new equipment and are visiting a Dick’s or Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy always remeber that these stores take TRADE-INS. Also take the extra time to get fitted to make sure you have something that is right for you.
