Pitch Shots
Monday, July 16th, 2007Unlike a chip shot, the pitch shot truly indicates it purpose. To hit high and land soft. It’s played from 100 yards and in on the golf course. Do you know that the pitch shot is a smaller type swing than our full swing? There should be 3 clubs for this shot pitching wedge, sand wedge and lob wedge. Again your feet should not be that far apart, will say shoulder width. Ball placement should be somewhere around your heart or at a logo on your shirt.
Now comes the fun part hitting the golf ball. Picture a clock around your body, we start at 6, hinge up 9 or hip area of the body, back to 6 and finish at 3. Here are some helpful hints that may help you, place a towel under your armpits and then tee up some golf balls. Make some swings to where you are hitting the tee and golf ball at the same time. Remeber as well that there is some type of body shift or at least your back foot coming off the ground.
So far I have written about the short game, it is a great way to start with golf and makes up for alot of poor swings on the golf course. Hoping that this and everything else I’ve written has helped. Look forward to more of your responses soon.
